As we once again prepare to welcome a New Year
(5768), we must ponder all the problems that lay ahead. We
will be asking HASHEM to once again forgive our transgressions and
grant us a year of good health, happiness and prosperity. We
should also be asking HASHEM to give the leaders of the world
community the wisdom, courage
and strength to end all the senseless killing and violence that has plagued our planet
for centuries.
Closer to home, this past year has been a
challenge for the synagogue financially. Fortunately, the congregation responded enthusiastically and generously to our request for voluntary
assessment increases.
From a spiritual perspective, our small
congregation continues to set the standard for commited
membership. Except for a few occasions when severe
weather or out-of-town travel caused some of our regulars to be
unavailable, we have been able
to maintain our MINYANS both during Holidays and during our regular Friday night and Shabbat
morning services.
This past year, Daniel Horwitz, son of Larry
and Dana Horwitz, became a BAR MITZVAH, and the sanctuary and
social hall were filled with family and guests for the
simchah. On behalf of the congregation, I want to thank Milton
Dzodin, Jack Shanfield and Noreen Slack for
their tireless efforts at sprucing up the building
-- both inside and outside -- in time for this event. If I forgot someone,
I apologize.
Hopefully, with the help of HASHEM, this year
we will be
able to right our financial ship and bring our miraculous little shul back to its
former glory.
Interim President
On behalf of the congregation, I'd also like thank Mark for his contribution to the beautification effort. -- The webmaster
